Lets recap: The impact of your purchase creates a ripple effect that supports veteran employment, sustainability, and veterans in need of assistance.  It continues on to impact our Brand Champions which consist of military spouses, veterans, military family members, and loyal customers. Sword & Plough purchases support relatable, real people.


Meet Crystal LaPak, a loyal customer that I had the pleasure of meeting during one of my pop-up shops.  


Why did you want to be a Sword & Plough Brand Champion: I wanted to be a Brand Champion for Sword and Plough from the moment I met Jamie Sheaffer at a local pop-up shop in our community. I was immediately drawn to the product, but more importantly, I felt connected to the Sword & Plough story and the idea that I could be part of a company that makes a difference in the lives of so many veterans.


How has being a Sword & Plough Brand Champion impacted you?: Being a Sword & Plough Brand Champ has really opened my eyes to the challenges that many of our veterans face, but I have also come to realize that if we all work together we can help our veterans overcome some of these hurdles. I am humbled by the men and women I meet at Sword & Plough events. Their enthusiasm for our mission is contagious. It’s a great feeling to know that the work you’re doing truly matters.


Biggest lesson learned:  Emily and Betsy taught me my biggest life lesson.  Follow your dreams and if you see a problem in the world, find a creative, positive way to change it.


What is your favorite Sword & Plough product?: I have several Sword and Plough favorites, but if I had to narrow it down, I would say the Black Leather Crossbody Bag and the Essential Leather Clutch are top picks for sure. The functionality and style make for great staple pieces. I’m a sucker for classic black and these two make for great everyday wear. I’m also a big fan of the design of the Limited Edition Uniform Tote. It’s a little more casual and a great option for on the go. The Sword & Plough graphic with the words “repurposed for a purpose” make the bag pop and give it that cool, fun vibe. While we are talking faves, I have to mention the jewelry line as well. I’m a huge fan of Shanna Rodenberg’s work and love that she was able to turn her hobby into a successful career with Sword and Plough. The way she creates jewelry from repurposed .50 caliber brass shell casings is so unique and different.


What is your favorite Sword & Plough veteran giving partner charity?: My favorite Sword & Plough affiliate charity would have the be Team RWB. I love the work they do in helping veterans build connections within their communities through physical and social activities. We talk a lot about the difficulties veterans often face in adjusting to civilian life. Team RWB recognizes these difficulties and works hard to educate, inspire, and elevate veterans to new heights as leaders in their communities.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Jamie Sheaffer is an active duty military spouse.  She is attending a hybrid graduate school program at Grand Valley State University to earn her Master’s in Occupational Therapy.  For her school program, she travels from Texas to Michigan once a month with her 1-year-old son and considers herself to be a travel expert.  Of course, she uses her Sword & Plough bags for her trips because they are so durable and practical. She loves being a Lead Brand Champion because she gets to use her creativity to support veteran employment and outreach.
